If you're here you probably already know all of this, but here goes anyway...
In late 2006 I co-founded a band called Pomegranates with Jacob Merritt and Isaac Karns, who at the time were perfect strangers to me, but they quickly became my brothers. In the seven or so years we spent working at that band, one of the most important things I learned is that connecting with real people is the most impactful thing an artist can do. Not getting good reviews, not getting a record label or manager or booking agent. Just connecting with people. It's funny, because I remember thinking "if we had all these other things then we could connect with more people!" And maybe that was true, but at the end of it all it felt like our fans were the only people that stuck around, and that's really beautiful.
That's why I'm here now, telling you this. I've learned that winning the hearts of music industry gate-keepers is good for temporary affirmation. But forming meaningful relationships with the people who really care about the art I make is the thing that sustains me in all of this. So, I want to use this platform that Bandcamp has made to offer more intimate, special "thank-you's" to the people who care most about what I make.
